Slideshow: RunUp Fashion Show Draws Huge Crowd

More than 600 people got jazzed up at RunUp 2012 Friday night.

The annual event was held at The Pritzlaff building, 305 N. Plankinton Ave.

Event organizers Jordan DechambreDavid Caruso and Libby Castro picked the Roaring 1920s theme for this year’s occasion and the crowd loved it.

“It was big town culture at a small town price,” said Theresa Balistreri, a Milwaukee freelance make-up artist. “Milwaukee has the culture of a big city but is accessible to everyone.”

The evening highlighted local names including Mink by Amanda Egren, Linda Marcus Designs, Leslie Randall, Delanie Couture, Heather King, Miranda Levy, and Terry Michael Designs.

Bjorn Nassett, Beauty hair salon hair style artist and former Milwaukee drag queen, gave a guest performance with Danceworks. Also participating was Ra’Mon Lawrence, a Milwaukee native and “Project Runway” finalist, and Timothy Westbook, Pfister Hotel artist in residence.

Caruso said people in Milwaukee want to be associated with this type of event.

“Our guests, event sponsors and designers were beyond excited about being a part of this premiere fashion experience,” he said.

The presenting sponsors were Dynamic Events by David Caruso, M Magazine, LP/w Design Studios, The Iron Horse Hotel, Froedtert Health and Marcus Hotels & Resorts.

All proceeds from the event benefit the establishment of Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Translational Research Unit.

“In the years ahead, we want RunUp to continue to be focused on the talents of our local designers and we want this event to raise even more money for important local organizations,” Caruso said.
