Slideshow: Marcus Corp., Boston Store Film Crews Roll in Downtown Milwaukee

Video crews rolled through the streets of downtown Milwaukee this week as Marcus Corp. shot video for a documentary of The Pfister hotel and Boston Store threw up some fake snow for a winter commercial.

Marcus Corp. shut down North Jefferson Street on Tuesday to film outdoor scenes for an up to 30-minute documentary on the history of The Pfister hotel. The video will cover the almost 190-year history of the hotel, ambulance including presidential visits, saidChris Anderson, Marcus Corp. senior vice president of sales, health marketing and brand development. Marcus Corp. will unveil the documentary Dec. 6 at a party commemorating Steve Marcus’ purchase of the building 50 years ago, he said.

“The Pfister actually started the hotel and resort division when Steve Marcus bought the hotel out of foreclosure,” he said.

Marcus Corp. hired Z2 Marketing, Pewaukee, to shoot and edit the documentary. Once complete, the movie will be shown constantly in the televisions in Pfister’s hotel rooms on a special channel, Anderson said.

A few blocks away from The Pfister, a film crew on Thursday piled fake snow onto the eaves of Northern Trust Bank’s stone building at East Wisconsin Avenue and North Jackson Street. That footage will be used in a Boston Store ad.

A film crew shot three actors walking down the street as fake snow shot into the air. They were careful to film around downtown joggers in shorts and T-shirts who were out enjoying the unseasonably warm weather.
