The Pfister® Hotel Honored with ‘Stars of the Industry’ Award

MILWAUKEE – June 15, 2012 – The historic Pfister® Hotel, which is owned and managed by Marcus® Hotels & Resorts, in downtown Milwaukee was honored earlier this week with a national ‘Stars of the Industry’ award from American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) in the category of guest relations for a large property. The awards program recognizes lodging employees and properties that best symbolize the quality service of the industry.

The award in the guest relations category is given for programs that develop a climate conducive to new or repeat business, create goodwill among guests, or provide special services.
Featuring the largest collection of Victorian-style art of any hotel in the world, The Pfister has a history of commitment to the arts. For more than 25 years, internationally acclaimed pianist Dr. Jeffrey Hollander has been performing at the hotel as its musician-in-residence, and anchors the nightly pianist schedule at the hotel’s signature Lobby Lounge.
The hotel’s guest relations award submission focused on its unique arts programming. For example, The Pfister hosts a successful Artist-in-Residence program, which features a working art studio and gallery that is open to hotel guests and visitors, and a Pfister Narrator program, in which a member of the Milwaukee community is selected to serve as a writer-in-residence for six months, interacting with guests and sharing their unique stories on The Pfister’s blog, blog.thepfisterhotel.com.
“We’ve seen great success with all of our arts programs,” said Kurth. “We’re proud to have expanded upon the established support for music arts, culinary arts and Victorian art, with two new programs supporting the visual arts and art of the written word.
