Want to tour The Pfister Hotel? There’s an app for that

MILWAUKEE — The Pfister Hotel in downtown Milwaukee is now the first hotel in the U.S. to launch an augmented reality tour. All you need to do is download the Pfister Hotel app on your Android cell phone and 12 pieces of art will come to life right before your eyes.

App co-creator Nick Rudich hopes the tour will bring in people of all ages.

“Hopefully it brings a little appreciation to something that is old and brings it in a new light, said Rudich. “Kind of allow the art to reinvent itself.”

He says the goal is to one day have all 80 pieces available for viewing at the Pfister be part of the augmented reality tour.

Pfister general manager Tim Smith adds that he hopes to bring in a new generation of visitors.

“This is a way to bring other people that may not normally be interested in Victorian art into The Pfister to see it, and kind of do it on a lighter scale,” said Smith.

The tour includes talking portraits, interactive videos, and even fortune telling.
