The hotel’s collection of Victorian art is going to be featured in this unique and high tech way.

The Pfister Hotel has now announced its intentions to become the first hotel in the United States that will be showing off its Victorian art collection through the launch of an augmented reality art tour.

By using AR technology, it helps to enhance the experience of the artworks on their own with additional media.

In this specific circumstance, the augmented reality allows the viewer to see a live view of the various different pieces of art, along with enhancements such as through sound, video, and other graphic elements. At the launch of the tour, Pfister unveiled ten different works of art that would be a part of this interactive experience, which was called Gallery Night.

In order to view the augmented reality components, a specific app was made available to download.

The app is used through smartphones and was made available to download by viewers through a special website. That same site also provided details about the art collection tour while it provided users with an explanation of the way that AR technology actually works.

The website indicated that the application was also available at Google Play and the Apple Store, which suggests that it is compatible with Android and iOS based devices.

The hotel has stated that its goal is to be able to add more works of art to this tour over time, as it has a significant collection and it would like to place more of the pieces in the spotlight. According to the Marcus hotels senior vice president, Chris Anderson, “We now have the ability to provide millennials and tech-savvy guests the opportunity to connect and engage with a 120 year old hotel in a modern format.”

Technology such as augmented reality is being used in both art and advertising on an increasing basis due to the simple to use experience that it provides, and the considerable interactive enhancements that it offers to the users of some of the devices that have become the most commonplace in our society, such as smartphones and tablets.
